The West African Research Association (WARA) is delighted to announce the West African Scholar Mobility Fellowship (WASMF), offering funding and support for young scholars to advance their academic pursuits. This prestigious fellowship fosters opportunities for emerging researchers, strengthens transatlantic collaboration, and supports the preparation of doctoral proposals or research projects in West Africa.
Program Highlights
- Eligibility: Open to West African citizens currently enrolled in graduate programs at U.S. institutions. (Applicants with U.S. citizenship are not eligible.)
- Priority: Focus on pre-dissertation stage scholars who demonstrate financial need.
- Duration: 2–3 months of research in West Africa during the summer of 2025.
- Award: One pre-doctoral grant of $4,000 for travel and research expenses.
Application Requirements
Prepare and submit the following documents:
- Abstract: 50–80 words summarizing your research.
- Research Proposal: Maximum of 6 double-spaced pages, detailing your concept, methodology, and significance.
- Resume or CV.
- Itemized Budget: Include estimated costs for housing, food, travel, equipment, printing, and institutional fees.
- Graduate Transcripts: Scanned and officially uploaded.
- Bibliography: Relevant references supporting your research.
- Two Letters of Reference: Signed by your recommenders.
- Statement of Contribution: Explain how your research aligns with WARA’s mission and its impact on your academic field.
