The Bartlett Promise Scholarship is a transformative initiative designed to support talented students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue postgraduate studies at The Bartlett, UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Sub-Saharan African Scholarship, applicants must:

• Nationality & Residency: Be nationals and residents of one of the 48 eligible Sub-Saharan African countries.

  • Admission: Hold an offer for a Bartlett master’s programme starting in September 2025, with conditions related only to English language requirements if any.
  • Financial Need: Demonstrate financial need, assessed by UCL.
  • Additional Preferences (not mandatory):
  • Be a forced migrant (e.g., refugee or asylum seeker).
  • Be the first in the family to attend university at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.

Eligible Countries

The scholarship is open to nationals from 48 countries, including:

Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and others.

Coverage and Benefits

Selected scholars will receive:

  • Full overseas tuition fees.
  • Annual living and study allowance of £16,008.
  • Additional support, including:
  • Flights to/from the UK.
  • UK visa costs and NHS Immigration Health Surcharge.
  • English language test fees and health assessments.
  • Professional development and career support throughout the programme.

Scholarship Details

• Number of Scholarships: Four for Sub-Saharan African students.

  • Program Duration: Up to 2 years (for full-time master’s programmes).
  • Host Institution: UCL, London, UK.
