The LawAI Summer Fellowship 2025 offers an exciting opportunity to explore the intersection of law and artificial intelligence. Hosted by the Institute for Law & AI (LawAI), this fully funded program invites law students, professionals, and academics from around the world to engage in research projects addressing AI law and policy. About the Institute for Law & AI (LawAI)

LawAI is an independent think tank dedicated to promoting the responsible and fair use of AI. It collaborates with governments, international organizations, and businesses to address legal and ethical challenges posed by AI.

As a fellow, you will:

  • Work with a mentor to design a research project tailored to your background and interests.
  • Collaborate with policymakers and thought leaders in AI law and policy.

Fellowship Structure

  • Remote Fellowship: 8–12 weeks of flexible, virtual research.
  • On-site Fellowship: One week in Washington D.C. (July 7–11, 2025).

Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship is open to individuals from diverse backgrounds, including:

  • Graduate law students (e.g., JD or LLM).
  • PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Legal academics or professionals transitioning into AI law and policy.

Note: Prior expertise in AI research is not required, and applications are encouraged even from those with limited experience in the field.
