Shape the Future of AI Law: Apply for the Summer Research Fellowship 2025

The Institute for Law & AI’s Summer Research Fellowship (US) is now accepting applications! This prestigious, paid program offers law students, professionals, and academics an opportunity to explore the intersection of AI governance, law, and policy. Fellows will engage in groundbreaking research, mentorship, and networking with global experts and policymakers.

Application Deadline: January 15, 2025.

  • Program Duration: 8–12 weeks.
  • Cohort 1: May 27 – August 15, 2025.
  • Cohort 2: June 16 – September 4, 2025.
  • In-Person Week: July 7–11, 2025, in Washington, D.C. (travel expenses covered).
  • Stipend: $15,000.

Fellowship Highlights

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Have a background in law (JD, LLM, PhD, or equivalent).
  • Be recent graduates, professionals transitioning to AI law, or legal academics.
  • Commit to full-time remote work for at least 8 weeks (part-time options available).
  • Attend the in-person week in Washington, D.C.

Research Areas

Fellows will select or propose a research topic aligned with AI governance, including:

  • Governance frameworks for AI.
  • Legal implications of AI errors (liability & insurance).
  • Global AI regulatory institutions.
  • AI’s impact on the rule of law and decision-making.

Application Process

  1. Submit Application: Complete the form and upload your CV by January 15, 2025.
  2. Video Interview: Answer questions about your research interests (30 minutes).
  3. Research Interview: Discuss your research goals and fit for the fellowship (40–60 minutes).
  4. Final Offer: Successful candidates will receive an offer after review.
