Latvia offers state-funded scholarships for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students from 39 eligible countries to study at Latvian higher education institutions. These scholarships provide an excellent opportunity to pursue higher education in Latvia across multiple disciplines.

Key Scholarship Details

• Eligible Programs: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD studies
• Languages of Instruction: English, German, French, and Latvian
• Application Period: February 1 – April 1 (annually)
• Decision Announcement: June

• Scholarships cannot be combined with other grants.
• Recipients must arrange their own insurance coverage.
• Partial funding: The scholarship does not fully cover tuition fees, living expenses or personal costs.
• Travel expenses from the recipient’s home country to and from Latvia are not included.
• No scholarship is provided if the student stays in Latvia for less than 15 days.

• Average range: €2,800 – €15,000 per year
• Medical & Executive Business programs: Up to €15,000 per year

Application Process (Online Submission)

1. Register on the electronic application system and create a profile.
2. Fill out the application form (ensure accuracy—incomplete or incorrect applications are not considered).
3. Upload all required documents (translated into Latvian or English).
4. Submit the completed application before the April 1 deadline.
5. Receive official notification of the scholarship decision via email in June.

• All applications are reviewed by the VIAA Evaluation Committee based on official criteria outlined in Cabinet Regulation No. 68.
