Google DeepMind is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in artificial intelligence (AI) by supporting postgraduate education for underrepresented groups and individuals with limited financial resources. The Google DeepMind Scholarships program collaborates with partner universities globally to build a diverse and dynamic AI community, enabling scholars to contribute unique perspectives to AI and related fields.

What the Google DeepMind Scholarships Offer

Scholars benefit from a range of opportunities, including:

  • Full Funding for Postgraduate Degrees: Up to two years of tuition and fees at a partner university.
  • Living and Relocation Costs: Stipends covering housing, living expenses, and relocation costs.
  • Professional Development: Funding to attend AI-related conferences and events, as well as mentorship from Google DeepMind experts.
  • Networking and Community: Joining a network of future AI professionals and accessing unique Google DeepMind events.

Eligibility and Application Process

To qualify for the scholarship:

  • Students must secure admission to specific postgraduate programs at one of Google DeepMind’s partner universities.
  • Partner universities nominate eligible newly admitted students to the Institute of International Education (IIE) or administer the scholarships directly.
  • Each university determines admission and nomination criteria.

  • African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) – ‘AI for Science’ program (Details: AIMS AI for Science)

  • Sofia University (Bulgaria)
  • École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay (France)
  • Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece)
  • University of Warsaw (Poland)
  • Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania)

Middle East

  • Istanbul Technical University (Turkey)

North America

  • McGill University (Canada)
  • University of Toronto (Canada)
  • University of Alberta (Canada)

South America

  • UNICAMP – Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Brazil)
  • Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia)

Important Notes

  • Scholarships for Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, France, Greece, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Turkey, and Uganda are supported by IIE in 2025.
  • Some universities may not participate every year.
  • Existing student funding may supplement scholarships to enhance educational experiences and extracurricular engagement.
