WARDI, a leading Somali NGO operating in six regions of South-Central Somalia, is looking for a Grants Proposal Development Specialist (GPDS). Role Overview
As a Grants Proposal Development Specialist, you will support WARDI’s program team in crafting high-quality grant proposals to secure funding. This role demands close collaboration with program staff and fundraising teams to create compelling narratives aligned with WARDI’s vision and donor priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Development
- Collaborate with program teams to align project goals with community needs.
- Identify and research potential grant opportunities.
- Develop detailed, persuasive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents.
Donor and Sector Engagement
- Build relationships with donors in Somalia and internationally.
- Stay updated on donor requirements, submission deadlines, and calls for funding.
- Explore partnerships with INGOs and UN Agencies for joint initiatives.
Grant Writing
- Compose clear, compelling proposals tailored to donor priorities.
- Highlight Somalia’s humanitarian context and WARDI’s impact in key sectors.
- Revise and expand concept notes into full proposals as required.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work with program staff to gather necessary data and inputs.
- Conduct brainstorming sessions and workshops to refine proposals.
- Seek feedback to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Research and Monitoring
- Conduct research on donor priorities and funding history.
- Track proposal submissions and maintain a database of outcomes.
- Evaluate completed projects and integrate lessons learned into future proposals.
Capacity Building
- Train program staff in best practices for grant writing and proposal development.
- Provide resources and tools to enhance fundraising efforts.
Budget Development
- Collaborate with the finance team to create detailed, compliant budgets.
- Justify project costs to demonstrate value for money.
Qualifications
- • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Global Development, or Social Sciences.
- • Experience: Minimum 5 years in grant writing and proposal development, preferably in humanitarian settings.
- • Knowledge: Familiarity with Somalia’s humanitarian context is an advantage.
