Available Research Areas LISER is looking for PhD candidates in the following research areas: Supervisors: Prof. Christina Gathmann, Dr. Michal Burzynski Develop advanced spatial models to study climate-induced migration and explore future policies for mitigation and adaptation. This project includes collaboration with the UN, World Bank, and European institutions. Supervisors: Prof. Christina Gathmann, Dr. Joël Machado Extend frameworks for modeling workers’ transitions across sectors amid technological and structural changes, including AI and green transitions, and analyze implications for labor markets and welfare systems. Supervisor: Dr. Valerie Moran Investigate healthcare access issues for vulnerable groups such as women, immigrants, and those with lower socio-economic status, aiming to improve access and understand barriers. Supervisor: Prof. Javier Olivera Use experimental methods and surveys to explore public attitudes on redistribution, inequality, and taxation, particularly around inheritance taxes. Supervisor: Prof. Marc Suhrcke Evaluate policies aimed at improving inclusion in the labor market and society for individuals with disabilities, in alignment with the UNCRPD.
