Apply Now: Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) 2025

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) is a prestigious program designed to support outstanding international students pursuing master’s, postgraduate diplomas, or PhD studies in Ireland. Funded by the Government of Ireland and managed by the Higher Education Authority, the program offers 60 scholarships annually for one year of full-time study.

What’s Included?

  • Stipend: €10,000 for one year of full-time study at NFQ levels 9 or 10.
  • Fee Waiver: Full fee waiver from the host institution for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Start Date: Successful scholars will begin their studies in September or October 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-EU/EEA, Swiss, or UK residents.
  • Must have a conditional or final offer of admission to a relevant program at an eligible Irish higher education institution.
  • No previous GOI-IES scholarship holders are eligible to apply.
  • Russian and Belarusian nationals are excluded due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

How to Apply

  1. Submit Online: Applications must be completed via the online portal.
  2. References: Two references are required for submission via the portal.
  3. Application Deadline: 5 pm Irish time, March 5, 2025.

Assessment Criteria

  • Outstanding academic achievements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Extracurricular involvement: e.g., humanitarian work, politics, arts, or sports
  • Clear rationale: Demonstrate how this scholarship aligns with long-term goals.

Application Process

  • Applications will be reviewed for eligibility by the host institutions.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an independent panel.
  • Outcome: Applicants will be notified in early June 2025.
