The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is offering fully funded international MSc and PhD scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year, tailored to developing Nigerian talent for the global energy industry.

This prestigious scholarship covers:

• Tuition & bench fees (where applicable)
• Flight tickets & health insurance
• Living & accommodation allowances

Scholars will study at world-class partner universities in the UK, Germany, France, and Malaysia. All UK PhD programmes will follow a split-site model with research shared between Nigeria (CPESK, Kaduna) and top UK universities.

MSc Applicants

• Nigerian with Second-Class Upper (2:1) or 2:2 with industry experience
• Completed NYSC
• 5 O’level credits, including English & Maths
• Statement of purpose (max 500 words)
• Verified NIN

PhD Applicants

• Nigerian with 2:2 first degree & relevant Master’s
• Completed NYSC
• Submit 5-page research proposal relevant to oil & gas
• Professional membership
• Verified NIN

• United Kingdom: 18 partner universities (MSc), 3 for split-site PhD (Robert Gordon, Portsmouth, Strathclyde)
• Germany, France, Malaysia: Public universities offering oil & gas-aligned MSc & PhD programs

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews and assessed on:

• Academic performance & transcripts
• Quality of research proposal (PhD)
• Industry relevance of study
• Professional affiliations
• Merit across educational background
