The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme is dedicated to strengthening higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa, empowering them to drive sustainable development. This initiative offers scholarships for development-related Master’s and PhD studies, targeting individuals aspiring to careers in teaching and research within higher education institutions across the region.
Who Should Apply?
- Graduates and postgraduates from Sub-Saharan Africa:
- Master’s Applicants: Must hold a first academic degree.
- PhD Applicants: Must possess a Master’s degree.
- Applicants aiming to pursue studies:
- In their home country (In-Country scholarships).
- In another Sub-Saharan African country (In-Region scholarships).
- Special Encouragement: Female candidates and individuals from less privileged regions or groups are highly encouraged to apply.
Note:
For South African students seeking In-Country scholarships, applications are managed separately through a collaboration between DAAD and the NRF.
Scholarship Benefits
- Monthly Stipend: To cover living expenses.
