Spiked, the home of bold, pro-freedom journalism, is inviting passionate and hard-working individuals to apply for its 2025 internship programme. This is your chance to work across various editorial formats, including articles, blogs, podcasts, and video, while contributing to fearless and thought-provoking content.
What We’re Looking For
- Passion for Spiked’s Values: A commitment to pro-freedom, pro-human politics.
- Dedication and Quick Learning: Hard-working and eager to learn the ropes of journalism.
- Storytelling Skills: An eye for compelling stories and a flair for journalism.
- Optional Experience: While no prior experience is necessary, familiarity with journalism, video production, audio editing, or social-media management is a plus.
Programme Details
- Duration: Six months (April to September 2025).
- Location: Spiked’s London office (five days a week).
- Compensation: The internship is paid.
- Training and Growth: Comprehensive training to help you build a solid foundation in journalism, with the potential for continued work after the programme.
Application Process

1. CV and Cover Letter
• Introduce yourself, explain why you’re the ideal candidate, and share why you want to join spiked.
2. Opinion Piece
• Write a 500-word opinion article on a recent news story, with a strong headline and standfirst in spiked’s style. Showcase clarity, conciseness, and relevance.
3. Pitch for a Video or Podcast
• In 300 words, pitch an idea for a YouTube video or a guest for one of spiked’s podcasts.
• For podcast pitches, suggest insightful questions for the guest. For video pitches, outline how you’d bring the story to life.
