The Life and Building Development Initiative (LABDI) is a neutral, independent, and impartial NGO dedicated to protecting and supporting children, youth, women, and other vulnerable populations in conflict zones.
We are currently recruiting an Education Officer to join our team in Borno State. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to education interventions and community development while advancing your career in humanitarian service.
Position: Education Officer
- Experience: 3–5 years
- Location: Monguno and Bama LGAs, Borno State
Key Responsibilities
As an Education Officer, you will work closely with the LABDI Education Team Lead and Consortium Manager to implement education activities in Monguno and Bama. Key responsibilities include:
Program Implementation
- Lead activities such as back-to-school campaigns, enrolment drives, door-to-door mobilization, and community engagement to bring out-of-school children back to school and retain at-risk children.
- Conduct needs assessments, baseline, and endline evaluations in project locations.
- Ensure accurate documentation, data collection, and reporting to track project progress and impact.
- Supervise teachers, facilitate teacher training, and support the establishment of school safety committees, climate change resilience school clubs, and SBMCs.
- Coordinate enrolment campaigns in collaboration with stakeholders and local communities.
Operational Planning and Implementation
- Develop and monitor project work plans to ensure compliance with objectives and timelines.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement to the Education Team Lead and Project Manager.
- Maintain high safeguarding, accountability, and transparency standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Safeguarding
- Implement safe programming principles during planning, execution, and monitoring of activities.
- Uphold the “Do No Harm” approach across all program activities.
Engagement and Advocacy
- Foster relationships with communities, local leaders, education authorities, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent LABDI at meetings, workshops, donor engagements, and stakeholder forums.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in education programming.
- Skills: Strong technical and operational skills in program planning, implementation, and reporting.
