Position: Northwest Nigeria Program Manager

Location: Sokoto, with coordination for Zamfara, Katsina, and other states

Reporting to: Deputy Country Director – Operations

Contract: Fixed-term (12 months, until 01/02/2026)

About ACF

Action Against Hunger (ACF) has been operating in Nigeria since 2010, implementing successful programs in Nutrition, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). The organization has expanded its programs in the conflict-affected Borno state since 2017, focusing on sustainable programs in Health, WASH, Social Protection, and Agriculture. ACF currently operates in several northern Nigerian states, reaching over 2.7 million individuals in 2022.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Manage and develop ACF’s programs and strategy in Northwest Nigeria, including Sokoto, Zamfara, and Katsina.
  • Humanitarian and Recovery Programming: Promote integrated programs aligned with the country’s strategy.
  • Partnership Development: Build partnerships and alliances for program expansion.
  • Security Management: Oversee safety and security for ACF staff and assets in the region.
  • Local Partner Coordination: Manage relationships with local implementing partners, ensuring accountability and quality.
  • Staff Management: Supervise 6 direct reports and 34 indirect staff, providing guidance and support for a multicultural team.
  • Financial & Logistical Oversight: Ensure accountability for finance, human resources, and logistics in Sokoto and surrounding areas.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in a similar role with INGOs in insecure environments. Previous experience with ACF is an advantage.
  • Education: Degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Humanitarian Response, or relevant fields.
  • Skills: Strong diplomatic, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to manage and motivate a large team in challenging settings.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: €2,597 – €2,968 per month (based on experience) + 13th month.
  • Allowances: Monthly per diem and living allowance of 837 USD; 450€ country allowance.
  • Family Benefits: Child allowance of up to 1,500€ per year per child.
  • Healthcare: Full coverage for social security, health, and repatriation insurance.
  • Leave: 25 days of paid leave, 20 Rest & Recuperation (RnR) days per year, with airfare reimbursement and additional funds for RnR.
